A ditty of a Saturday morning, 
written while reading The Garden Gate's mail.

    I'm asking you this,
    and please respond ASAP,
    when should I plant
    my peas and my corn?

There's no information
on the planet where I live.
No libraries, bookstores,
no friends, Dads or Moms.
No neighbors who garden,
no informative salesclerks,
no Cooperative Extension,
no aunts I can phone.

I just can't be bothered
to post to rec.gardens.
Who has time to read it?
So I thought I'd ask you.

I do all my shopping
at K-Mart and Walgreens,
buying 10 cent seed packets
when I find them on sale.
I live in a Zone
that you've never heard of,
but you sound like an expert,
so I thought I'd ask you.

There are some instructions
on the back of those packets,
But I can't find my glasses
So I thought I'd ask you.
